Istanbul is a layered waterfront of domes and needle-thin minarets. Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque create broad central domes with several tall pointed shafts around them, while Galata Tower adds a shorter cylindrical tower with a conical roof on the opposite bank. The skyline often feels split across water: an old monumental ridge in front, newer blocks behind, and a low bridge or ferry line near the base. If the silhouette shows a family of domes paired with four or more slender minarets, choose Istanbul. Cairo shares mosque forms, but Istanbul's dense Bosphorus layering and Galata cone make the profile distinct.
