Singapore’s Marina Bay is a three-tower hotel wearing a boat. Marina Bay Sands is a unique block: three thick legs joined at the top by a long horizontal deck, which in a simplified silhouette can become a rectangle hovering over the bay. Beside it, the ArtScience Museum is a lotus of overlapping petals, a low clustered bloom rather than a tower. The CBD to the side is a conventional pack of modern high-rises. If you see a wide top-heavy slab plus a flower-like dome, pick Singapore. Dubai’s sail and needle, or Hong Kong’s mountain comb, do not share that hotel-and-lotus pairing.
